June 02, Spotter crews from both CASARA Victoria & Nanaimo attended a Military Spotter Training exercise at YCD. Two flights were undertaken to accommodate the 14 eager participants. The Buffalo aircraft was crewed by members of 422 Squadron, out of Comox.
The reality of SAR’s work was made crystal clear when the second flight was aborted after just 5 minutes with a RTB. The Buffalo was outbound with minutes of landing to attend a live SAR call-out. The 422 Crew if fact attended two separate incidents on that flight.
