PEP Air volunteers Rick Dendys, Rick Ayotte and William Bing passed away on July 07, 1996 during a Search and Rescue mission near Nelson B.C. aboard aircraft C-GHWH for a missing aircraft out of Nelson, BC. They spotted a glint in the distance and proceeded to take a closer look and while banking in a turn the wing caught a tree and resulted in the crash killing all three on board.
