After more than two years of planning, the Nanaimo Civil Air Search and Rescue Association members have taken delivery of our new Mobile Air SAR Support Unit. The unit will support our teams by locating radio communications and search coordination closer when we are involved in searches away from Nanaimo. It will be particularly useful in remote locations, and we expect it to also support our drone SAR capabilities. In the coming weeks, the unit will get CASARA logos and signage. We would like to thank the Nanaimo Airport Authority for their support, as well as the Regional District of Nanaimo, and BC Gaming Commission.
