CASARA (PEP Air) Nanaimo have had a busy start to the month, the JRCC have tasked us twice and we have conducted three training flights to maintain currency standards for both Pilots & Navigators. The first task was to search for an overdue hiker in the Campbell River area. An intensive 12 hour day with a total of 6.8 hrs in-flight time. Nanaimo was joined by a CASARA flight from Port McNeil and supported by an RCMP Helicopter. The subject was found later that evening, hypothermic but otherwise well after his ordeal.  The second task was more of a technical nature when an ELT Distress Beacon was heard in the Qualicum Beach area. This was satisfactorily resolved.

CASARA (PEP Air) Nanaimo will also be participating at the Nanaimo Airport Open House on Thursday the 12th, 3.00 – 6.00pm.  We look forward to meeting you and explaining more about our community role, if you are able to attend.
